Iconic garden pavilion and monolithic pool nestled in ever-transforming garden.
The residents of a detached 90’s house, surrounded by a linearly structured garden analogous to the architecture, longed for an outdoor space with a casual and fresh feel. There was a specific desire for a swimming pool and a garden pavilion that would evoke a summer ambience all year round.

Designed as a light pergola structure, the garden pavilion took its inspiration from the iconic steel structures of the Los Angeles Case Study Houses. This resulted in an elegant and logically constructed design that contrasts with the robust house. At the same time, it radiates a relaxed, holiday-like atmosphere. A place where inside and outside blend seamlessly. The architects’ vision of creating a highly unique and therefore tailor-made ensemble was achieved in close collaboration with skilled craftsmen.

The garden with the pool as the unifying element was completely redesigned together with the landscape architecture firm Pieters Faché. The pool was conceived as a garden feature where sitting or lying in or around the pool feels as an inviting place to relax.

A tactile concrete garden wall not only creates the feeling of a ‘Garden of Eden’, but also literally embraces the pavilion and swimming pool. The wall provides intimacy and subtly screens off the nearby houses. The pool is surrounded by vegetation in an ever-changing colour palette that stimulates and relaxes the mind.

Soft, organic paths and lush planting fracture the clean lines. They create a fluid interaction between the architecture and the greenery around it. It is an outdoor space that invites, inspires and comes alive through the seasons.
